How Much CBD Should You Give Your Pet? And How Often?

When it comes to giving your cat or dog CBD, there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Each pet has different needs and tolerances. As pet parents, it's up to you and your veterinarian to determine what your pet needs to be healthy and happy. The first step is knowing how to choose the right CBD oil for your pet.

The rule of thumb with CBD is that you start low and slow. Begin with a low dose and gradually increase over time as needed until you find your pet’s specific sweet spot. The sweet spot is when your pet starts getting the desired benefit.

For cats and dogs who have never taken CBD oil, we recommend starting with 6mg per 20 pounds of body weight twice per day. When choosing a CBD oil for your pet, be sure to check the dosage chart to determine exactly how many drops of oil they need. For example, a 20 pound dog or cat would get approximately 7 droplets of our Companion's Best Day 750.

CBD works on the system by encouraging your pet's body to use its own endocannabinoids more effectively over time.  Therefore, it is important to give your pet time to adjust to the CBD before deciding to increase or decrease their dosage. This article explains more about how CBD works in the body.

Not all pets will respond to CBD in the same manner with the same amount, so pay close attention to YOUR pet and don’t assume they’ll respond like any other pet . Typically, an overall healthier pet will require less CBD oil than one that is less healthy.

Generally, small cats and dogs need CBD administered only once per day and medium to larger animals may benefit most with twice per day.

There is a lot to love about CBD and how it can help your pet feel better. Starting LOW & SLOW with a CBD oil specially formulated for pets is the best start to naturally improving your pet’s health.
