Fish Oil or Hempseed Oil: Which Is Best For Your Pet?

Fish Oil vs Hemp Oil for Your Pet

Should your dog or cat take fish oil or hempseed oil?

Wait!  Are you asking yourself: "Was I SUPPOSED to be giving my dog or cat oils? And isn't hemp only used for the CBD benefits?"

The primary reason to give fish oil to your pet is for the Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids at an ideal ratio of 3:1. Many fish oils provide that. The downside? Unless you are spending a substantial amount, fish oil will be poor quality and it’s likely to have high levels of heavy metals (which arguably causes more problems than your pet being Omega deficient). Also, they have a tendency to go rancid easily which is difficult to detect, and quite bad for your pet.

Hempseed oil also has the magic 3:1 ratio of Omega-6 and Omega-3.  And when cold pressed and from a whole plant source, will be nutrient rich to boot! In addition, hempseed oil is packed with vitamins D & E as well as minerals such as magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, and zinc. The antioxidants in hempseed oil also provide a natural reduction in whole body inflammation. BONUS: It's shelf stable when stored properly!

Hempseed oil is a fantastic, general purpose supplement for cats and dogs that will improve your pet’s AND your life! Visit our products page for more information on our Calming Relief hempseed oil for your cat or dog.  We love you and we love your pets!!
